During the recent quinquennial inspection, it was found that the door near the altar, the door frame and surrounding plasterwork has fungal growth from dry rot caused by water ingress from the stonework above the door.
Work needs to be done as a matter of urgency to deal with this problem. The initial work will be to remove the door, frame and plasterwork and carry out dry rot treatment which will cost £9,590.
Further works will then need to be done to reinstate the door and repair the stonework. The anticipated cost for the total of the work required is £20,000, but could be more, so we are appealing to you to contribute towards this total.
We realise we can’t ask the congregation to pay for all this work, and so will be appealing to the wider community and seeking grants and fundraising. If you have any fundraising ideas please contact the warden or any PCC member. Please pass this leaflet on to anyone you think might help.
